Operation Christmas Child |
OCC began in 1993 when Samaritan’s Purse, an aid organization requested shoeboxes filled with gifts to distribute in war-torn Bosnia. Since then, OCC has grown to be the largest international children’s ministry of its kind. Last year, there were over 7.6 million shoeboxes collected, which were delivered in |
over 90 countries: to refugee camps, orphanages, war-torn areas and other desperate situations. The children who receive these boxes are often living in abject poverty and have never received a gift. These shoe boxes filled with a few small gifts become a moment of joy and a reason for hope for millions of children who have little of either. For more detail about the program visit: www.samaritan.org The shoe boxes are collected in the week preceding Thanksgiving Week, so this is a wonderful way to start the Christmas season with the true meaning of Christmas. Collection Week is (to be determined for this year) Church of the Good Shepherd 23599 Cedar Road (between Green and Richmond, just west of Legacy Village) Lyndhurst, OH For info call: (216) 382-7770 Drop Off Hours (to be determined for this year) |
