Youth and Adult |
|
Our Youth Group meets weekly and is for teens in grades 7 through 12. Each Sunday we continue to encourage each one to know, love and serve God through exploration of scripture and its biblical truths and help them apply it to their everyday lives. In addition, our youth have opportunities to be part of larger diocesan events and outreach ministries in order that they may share their faith and learn to serve others in the community. In doing so, they become a part of a much bigger community of believers. |

YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES |

In addition, a teen music ministry meets after church on Sundays. Besides fun and companionship, the group combines their many skills to prepare worship music for the enjoyment of all. Teens have also traditionally helped in Episcopal worship as acolytes: robed participants who carry the cross in the processional, light and carry candles, or perform other services. Beyond this, however, teens can become readers, administer the chalice in communion, lead worship after training, or perform with the weekly music ministry. Teens are not “future adult members,” but are vital, contributing members now! |

ADULT OPPORTUNITIES Right now a committee is compiling information from surveys to formulate a new plan for offerings in Adult Spiritual Formation. We have an annual Lenten Soup Supper series with topics of interest, and sometimes a series during Advent. In the past Good Shepherd has had adult education in the form of small group Bible Studies both at church and in House Churches in homes. Additionally we participated in a long-running Adult Forum, that met after church for the purpose of discussing topical issues. The surveys will determine the current preferences and allow us to proceed with the right offerings at the right times for our members. But there is also an even longer running adult education group of special note.
Thursday Morning Women’s Bible Study The Thursday morning Women's Bible Study has been meeting for during the school year for over twenty years. This small group meets at 9:30 on Thursdays for a time of fellowship and Bible study, closing with a brief time of prayer. Usually a book of the Bible is selected for in-depth study. |
